Vote for your favorite Doer of the Week! She could win $2,500.

Hi Dreamers,

This is it! For the past 10 weeks, we've featured a Doer of the Week -- a woman who has an inspiring and amazing business, just like Martha. We've mentioned many wonderful women -- from a baker who whips up square-shaped cupcakes to an interior designer who transforms women's shelters into places of peace and possibilities.

Starting tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET, you can vote for your favorite Doer of the Week. The poll voting will end on Friday, October 2 at 5 p.m. ET. The victor will win $2,500 for her business. The poll will be featured on the homepage of this site (meaning, the page you're looking at now). People who are not members of the Dreamers into Doers website can vote in the poll too.

To read about all the Doers of the Week in this contest, click on the links below.

The Glitter Girlz. They throw colorful and crafting parties for young girls in hopes that it will channel a girl's inner creativity and boast confidence!

Kate Kilgus. She handweaves handmade, classy wedding keepsakes such as lace ring bearer pillows and wedding purses.

Ann Price. She created an essential safety product for small pups. The product is very cute, and it could save a dog's life!

Robin Ross Wisotsky aka "Cupcakes Squared." She owns a bakery that makes fabulous, square-shaped cupcakes.

Alana Little. She designs cute and whimsical jewelry called "Make Pie, Not War."

Terry Grahl. A decorating do-gooder! She transforms women's shelters into places of peace and possibilities.

Karen Seremak. She has an eco-friendly line of bath and body-care products. The scents are heavenly!

Kim Bent. She founded a fun and engaging nonprofit that educates children about science.

Laura Brooke Allen.
She's a weight-loss guru! Laura lost 70 pounds this year and is helping others lose weight too.

Johanna Parker.
She creates folk-art-style Halloween decorations, ranging from vintage-looking treat baskets to papier-mache sculptures to festive party hats.

Please note that this contest is separate from the official Dreamers into Doers contest, in which two women will receive $10,000 each for her business! The announcement of winners for the official Dreamers into Doers contest will be made during the week of October 5. Think of this "Doer of the Week" poll-voting contest as a fabulous mini-contest!

Lastly, don't be bummed if you were not featured as a Doer of the Week yet! On October 7, we're going to return to our weekly scheduled programming (LOL) and feature a Doer of the Week again! Please note, Doers of the Week featured in October and beyond will not win a monetary prize, but they'll be highlighted in a newsletter and honored on this lovely website. It's pretty cool to say you were featured in a Martha Stewart online newsletter, right?

I hope this all makes sense. If not, write to me in the comments section.

Thanks!

Alexis

This site is awesome. I am a small town dog trainer trying to raise money while I work to build a training facility in my yard, nothing huge mind you, and seeing others pursueing and achieving their dreams helps me stay focused..

I would like to nominate myself, pat moses-caudel for doer of the week and yes, I am sooo shy. I actually have two things I am doing, the one I am beginning to push myself more is Somebody's Child, we are a not for profit but are not a non profit...to do that there are all kinds of hoops to jump thru, and as a stage 4 cancer patient, I don't do jump! nor do I do meetings and have a written out mission statement. While it always has the message To keep a child where they belong, it at time changes to Bring that child home. I had worked with a missing child foundation, as Director of Public Relations, working TV television news departments, giving interviews on radio stations, and running interference when necessary. and it was. We actually had a reporter ask one of my mother's "would you rather they find body parts or nothing at all" we almost banned that station from any new information, it went out on a live feed. But working directly with families was awful, so tried with a new publication with missing kids pictures.. great idea but it was a scam and the actually found 2 kids accidentally. Jon told me I don't play well with others, so I should work alone, and I began writing books, fiction with safely information tucked into stories with fun and humor. there are 10 total, a retell of fairy tales, red riding hood, Pinocchio and hansel and gretel, a 2 book sort of connected but they each stand alone, one parental abduction and one a stranger abduction. they are meant to be read to the kids, with family discussion, but again, they are read easy. I would say 3rd and up. Then there is a 5 part that starts with the wonderful recovery of a stranger abduction, but she had no idea she was stolen. the series continues and highlights her reconnection with family first time she is in school, she meets a child, who acts like something is really wrong, it is a parental abduction...there is a runaway/throwaway with an abandon baby, which everyone fights to keep... 2 interactive plays and 2 parent guides. and no, I cant charge for this stuff. we publish email as attachments.
it is so important that children are protected, but not smothered. its a fine line. There are easy things too, don't put your kids name on their clothes, book bag, lunch. use a sticker on the lunch bag. worse case they get the wrong lunch, but it could be better than the one you made. Make a mental note of what they are wearing every day when they go to school/daycare. If they ask, you are checking for rips and dirt. They will buy that. No Biggy. If they are ever taken in a mall, or busy store, they should yell FIRE FIRE FIRE because everyone will freeze and look around, for their own safety....once they have an audience, yell, this a stranger help!
the other project I actually just finished was for Carcinoid Cancer for LSU, New Orleans. They just had a 3 day conference and I organized read begged, friends to send extra beads for patients to make jewelry. well, they did more than that, they sent finished jewelry. I sent a big box of my stuff in, I just heard I even get my cost back out of it, which I am relieved a bout. I had done some wire wrapped faceted stones in amethyst, in purple and green. then they had yellow to clear, blue to green, purple to white and pink and white. oh, they were so pretty. There were lots of other things, when I get the camera downloaded I can show you the necklaces that had focal beads by Mavis Smith, an Asian Lady in full costume in pink and black lack I put her on a strand of 6mm round freshwater crocheted base then wrapped assorted pretties around the necklace so she is attached on the side. Same with the fairy, she was in teal and peach/ her zebra were flowers down her gown!
I will still be working with jewelry as the holiday season is beginning with shows, my health is a limitation, and both are important to me, as I can do both while in my bed. but I love writing. and the books and stories are doing no one any good, sitting in my computer.

Hi everyone, I am making dolls and clothes for children to save the money to buy me a new sewing machine. I am designing a stuffed animal but cant share much more than that. Only that a doctor and nurse here in town are helping me to find who to market it too. I am still in the designing mode. But my sewing machine is dying. Its over 13 years old and on its last leg. How do you get entered to be able to have someone vote on you. Please let me know. I am honored to be a part of this wonderful group. I love Martha, I cant function my day without watching her. So this is a big treat for me. Lynn or raggedyrhondas.com
