I am so happy to take a break from my day to write this ‘acceptance blog’ as Doer of the Week. Like everyone has said before me: it is an honor, a thrill, a dream come true.
Flying Wish Paper has been a magic ride for me.

I always believed that if I worked hard and smart that everything would fall into place. Winning this week’s
DID award is really icing on the cake, and I am proud to share this place with all the dreamers.
I created
Flying Wish Paper as a wishing activity kit for holidays, birthdays, weddings…anything from a prayer meeting to a bachelorette party, or even a quiet moment alone. Just write your wish on the Flying Wish Paper, shape it, and set it on the Wish Platform card. Light the top edge of the paper and watch it burn down in a small beautiful flame. At the last moment, your wish lifts off the platform card and rises into the heavens.
Write it, light it, watch it fly!

This product is truly the first of its kind. It flies! It’s this “newness” that really helps in marketing the product. Also, it’s an inspirational experience at a time when everyone needs a little lift. It can be whimsical or formal, ceremonial or private – but it is always rewarding. For anyone who has been to too many White Elephant gift exchanges,
Flying Wish Paper is something new to bring to the party. And it’s a great idea for somebody looking for a new hostess or house-warming gift.

I want Flying Wish Paper to become a tradition – as common as candles on a birthday cake, Christmas crackers, or hot dogs on the 4th of July. Sales this Thanksgiving have skyrocketed as people bring
Flying Wish Paper to their family tables, each writing down something they are thankful for and then watching as all their blessing fly up together. It’s a perfect way to bring new meaning to family traditions.

The concept is still growing, and that keeps me very, very busy. This time last year, my husband and two teenage daughters and I were assembling product in our living room. Today Flying Wish Paper is in almost 200 stores in the US, distributed in Germany and Hong Kong, and is just being introduced in Russia and Canada.

There always seems to be another opportunity knocking (or waiting to be found): new distribution, new marketing avenues (hello, DID!), new designs, and always fantastic conversations with people
sharing stories about how they use the product in a new way. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartwarming, sometimes a real tearjerker.
Flying Wish Paper can be many things to many people and that’s why I believe this is the beginning of a long and beautiful journey.

Keep dreaming, and keep doing! You can make it happen.
