Hi I am Kerri! I own Kerried Away Couture, offering women’s custom clothing through in-home design parties and private consultations. Before starting my custom clothing business, I worked as an analyst for a large corporation for almost 5 years always having this vision in the back of my mind. A few years ago, knowing that I wanted to eventually pursue my dream of offering women the custom clothing design experience at an affordable price, I started sewing, and about 8 months ago Kerried Away Couture was launched. Designing a unique outfit is easy…1. Choose your Style 2. Choose your Fabric 3. Choose your Details. Much of business so far as been from brides designing for their bridesmaid dresses but I hope to continue to branch out into everyday and party wear. Currently Kerried Away has a website and can be found on Facebook. I am excited to be a part of the Dreamers website and look forward to meeting more of you!

Thanks so much for the nice comments! The goal when I started this business was to offer something that let the customer really express her personality through designing a dress or skirt. Heidi, I'll send you a message so we can talk further

I like the name of your company. Creativity and approachability. There really is nothing like putting your name on something that you have brought into being. I am 54 and if I were renewing vows or getting married again I would love to have input into the design of my dress. Maybe it's just my age but a lot of what I see in fashion for occasions looks like "been there, done that". Hooray for fresh ideas. Doris Koons

Kerri, do you do all of the work yourself, do you contract out, or work with manufacturers? I am a handbag designer (Scarlet Clover Designs) and do all of the work myself. I do have an apprentice at times (usually high school students who will be going to college for fashion design), but otherwise, I do it all. My husband and I would like to get into manufacturing though so to free up a lot of my time, as most of my bags take around 10 hours to make. I would like to devote a portion of that time to more designing and to PR.

Where is your studio located?

Would love to hear more! So happy to hear that you followed your dream. You do beautiful work. Keep it up. I've work in the clothing industry before, and it is a different beast from handbags. Tailoring, tailoring, tailoring, and then dealing with the client on the fit, happy or not-so happy.

With Every Good Wish, Heidi Bonwell, Scarlet Clover Designs

Thanks! I really like the idea of offering the invitations to match the dresses! I will take a look at your website.

Fantastic idea for a business!! Wishing you good luck!
I can even design invitations for your client's to match the dresses you make. I make an illustration of a wedding dress or party dress for bridal showers or wedding invitations.
