Working at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is an exciting experience. I've been here for 2 and 1/2 years and I can honestly say that there's never a boring day in the office. There is always something going on -- whether it's an event hosted by Martha in the offices or relaunching a blog. And sometimes I get caught in all several projects at once and feel burnt out. And I KNOW that you know what I'm talking about.

On those days when you want to pull your hair out or cry because you feel so overwhelmed, it's important to take a step back and lean on your fellow sisters whenever you can. For example, tomorrow our fellow Dreamers Taryn Sisco is coming to NYC to see a taping of The Martha Stewart Show. I won't be in the offices tomorrow but I promised Taryn that I would have someone give her and her family an office tour.

So here I am, working late tonight to tie up loose ends before I go on vacation and I completely forgot about arranging an office tour for Taryn tomorrow!!!! I looked around the office at 7 pm and felt helpless! What can I do now? It's too late to arrange a tour for Taryn, right? I was wrong. I ended up calling my dear friend and trusted colleague Tiffany Sun on her cell phone and asked her if she could take Taryn on a tour tomorrow. She gladly accepted! It's such a nice feeling when you can REALLY rely on someone else when you need a helping hand and I hope you feel that way about some of the members on this site.

There are exciting things going on for Dreamers in the months to come -- we're going to revamp the site and streamline things so there's less clutter on here and more clarity. We're going to create an about page, we're going to clean up message boards and groups and more importantly we're going to to provide you with more insight and inspiration about your dreams and careers. Of course, I can't do this all by myself -- I have some colleagues who are going to roll up their sleeves with me and of course, I have you, the awesome members of this site!

Stay tuned and keep your head up! I leave you with a photo of two of my favorite colleagues and I: From left to right: Naomi Kim, online editor for all of Martha's TV shows, me, and Tiffany Sun, who's the online editor for holidays and crafts!

Best, etc.

Alexis

Alexis,
Hope you're enjoying your vacation and that you can really relax and enjoy your time away.
A big Yay to Tiffany — it is always so awesome when you can turn to someone you believe you can count on and they don't let you down :-)
Thanks for the update about the site. I find that I have come to look forward to contacts from my DID sisters. It's nice having a network of people who can relate to the issues and stresses of being a Doer. Many thanks to you for putting this all together.

Hello Alexis!

Enjoy your vacation, you should really sign off from the cyber world,I check my email about 20 times a day (I think I need help) I think I am also growing a hump on my back from being hunched over my labtop so much! Support and community is so important,it's the difference between success and failure, and I am so appreciative of this site! The same things that make us want to pull out our hair and run for the hills are the same things that we feel so proud of when it's done! What works against you, also works for you! That stress comes from a deep passion to do your job, without it we wouldn't perform to our best!

Hey Alexis
I just read a fabulous quote.
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain....."
We should all live by this don't you think?
We sure can not do everything and we need our friends and sisters to lean on.
Have a great refresh!!!

Have a great time Alexis, you're due for some R & R. I am so thankful for DID. It has helped me so much with vision and direction. I just completed a new "hope rope" for Enchanted Makeovers Inner Beauty. I have been stretched and challenged in ways I don't think would be possible if it weren't for MSLO and DID & YOU! Have a great vacation!

Yes, I can relate to be frazzled !
Just trying to turn from being just a "Dreamer" into a "Doer" is a lot of work.
Add in family, health issues, money issues... and it is even more challeging.
AND, this last several months of my non-stop planning, finding addresses and mailing out invitations, arranging the music and photos... and making almost all of the food and decorations... for my parents' 50th anniversary party that is this coming Sunday... and I too am so frazzled this week - LOL

Let's hope we all get though it all in one piece ;)

Organically Yours,
Diana

Hi Alexis,

Here's a simple technique that works: find frazzle relief in flower power! Get a flower, take a moment to look at it, let it invite you to contemplate its beauty and charcacter. Before you know it, you'll feel calmer, refreshed, and ready to tackle the next project with renewed energy.
