Discovering Jasmine

I am writing because my organization (GO Ministries) really needs your help. For those of you who don't know, our organization is dedicated to spreading God's word of hope, salvation and love through the performing arts. We produce and perform free admission stage plays for the public.We've entered a contest on Youtube for an opportunity to win an Olympus camera and money to produce an inspirational mini film. After much prayer, we have decided on the script for the film.

Our goal is to produce a film that will reach our lost youth. Inspired by my niece, the film's name is "Free". You see, last year my family was informed about my two year old niece, Jasmine. Her dad and mom separated three years ago. My brother in law's wife hid the fact that she was pregnant when they split up in 2007. It wasn't until Jasmine's mom was arrested last year that authorities discovered my beautiful niece, Jasmine. She was abused and hidden in a closet for the first two years of her life. No one knew she existed.

Finding out that we had daughter, granddaughter, niece and cousin whom we never knew existed learning of the abuse she endured was a tremendous blow to our family. Social workers and therapists had little hope of Jasmine living a normal life. But our faith, love and strength as a family has proven otherwise. The mini film "Free" will be dedicated to reminding other victims of abuse that hope is never lost.
