A Real Life Fairy Tale: Marriage

A long time ago in a land not so far away, about 25 years to be exact, a young woman was in a bikini contest. Normally the young woman would have left the establishment once the contests ended, but it happened to a friend’s birthday, so she stayed to celebrate both the birthday and the fact she had won the…

Cranberries All The Way, Happy Holidays

It seems I become nostalgic every year, luckily Sydney has embraced our family tradition. During the time between Thanksgiving and New Years we bake a plethora of cookies, cakes, pie, and pavlovas. Cranberry cake has joined the Noto tradition in 2001; Christmas that year was particularly special and…

Ready for the 4th?

Every year, we go up to my Aunt Marion's for the 4th of July north of Portland, Maine, and this year is no exception! I always look forward to seeing my family and relaxing near the lake - especially since the kids have gotten older and don't need *as much* intervention as they once did. We cook. We eat. We ride on the boat and…

Time.....What's in your day?

There never seems to be enough time to accomplish all the tasks or designs I would like. If you are like me, you probably add to your projects by picking up supplies to make canned salsa, or plan a peach pie for dessert. I would probably have a lot more time if I didn't do those things. On the other hand, how does Martha do it? If I was her, would I delegate, or just give up some tasks? I don't want to give anything up so perhaps if we could just clone time? You know, have it side by side so we… Continue

Getting Back to Basics! How to Balance Family Life!

Today’s families move at warp speed, running straight from school to soccer, then on to hockey and wrapping up the daily running at gymnastics - all before settling in for the evening. Somewhere during all that running they have to find time to eat dinner, do homework, take showers, and try to get to bed at a reasonable hour. This is a daily ritual for most families these days, and all of the running and pressure can…

Deserving Decor

How it all began…

After the events of September 11, 2001, I decided I wanted to do something different with my life. I had been working as a Computer Technician and Network Consultant for many years. I knew I wanted a drastic change in my life and began researching and reading books about following your bliss. I decided I wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming an interior decorator. I started an online store selling vintage home furnishings I found at auctions, flea markets… Continue

Fall=Funtime

To our family Fall has always been a special time. Before I ever had children my husband and I would always venture to the pumpkin farm and watch all of the children enjoying hay mazes, apple bobbing and scarecrow stuffing. We would then make a trip to the apple orchards and get the last of the apples on the trees. This was 15 years ago, now we enjoy the same things, with our own 3 children in tow.

The warm and coziness that Fall exudes and the crisp… Continue
