Glow-In-The-Dark Kitty

Check out the cute little canvas I created. It glows in the dark, and is 3-D thanks to the puffy paint.

Today Be Strong Wall Art Canvas

"Today Be Strong" jumped out at me as I've been giving a lot of thought to people having to struggle wtih cancer.. either the news is just talking about it more, or it's hit an all-time high.

It's the one disease I wish God would wipe off the face of the earth... all forms of it.

This is a canvas I created with those thoughts in mind.

What Do You Look For On An Artist's Blog?

As you know, I write a bi-weekly column on blogging for artists. I am currently thinking of writing a post on editorial calendars and that of course, got me to thinking about topics that artists write about...

So let me ask you, my dear artsy/craftsy friends...

When you go to an artist's (not a crafter's) website, what do you look for?

Are you solely going to window shop?

Are you looking for something to…

Do you have an old bulletin board?

Before you put stuff out for the trash look at it to make sure that you can not give it new life.

My husband Dennis drop off an old tv at our local recycling center and pick up this bulletin board.

Blue Textured Art Jar by Alyice Edrich

In the past, when I created textured art jars like this one, I always use multiple colors. I have to admit, though, focusing on one color is just as nice!

Kisses to Heaven Mosaic piece

I'm so happy with my fiery piece "Kisses to Heaven" and "Free Spirit".  My only son Chris passed away on Dec. 5, 2010 so this has been a hard year.  I find great pleasure and closeness when I'm working on a new mosaic.  My son was a gifted artist since I can remember.  I knew I had a very special boy when he was three years old and only colored in the lines and made sure his other young friends did the same.  As time went on he grew into an awesome artist.  I miss him joining me in my studio…

Mummy Art Jar, Vase by Alyice Edrich

This decorative Mummy art jar would make a fun addition to your Halloween decor!

He was created from a recycled bottle. First, he was given a nice body using molding paste. Once dried, he was painted white and sealed with a sealer. Next, he was covered in cheesecloth to look like a mummy.

He makes a great conversation piece, that's for sure...

Visit Japan in the comfort of your own home

This is one of my all-time FAVORITE jars. I created it for my son. There was a time when he couldn't wait to graduate from high school, move to Japan, and eat all the sushi he could muster up. Now, he's older and attending college, but eats Sushi every affordable chance he can get.

Circles and Swirls Art Jar by Alyice Edrich

This decorative art jar has three large, velvet circles surrounded by several swirls. It has a soft, gold overlay over the reddish-pink coloring. The velvet circles have been covered with a single coat of glaze to protect them from getting ruined. You can still see and feel the texture of the velvet, which adds a really nice touch.

Stars Art Jar by Alyice Edrich

One day while I was cleaning up my scraps, I came across a paper with a bunch of star punches. I thought they'd make a great little embellishment so I cut the star punched paper into little squares. This is the result of one of those scraps...

Hearts within Hearts Art Jar by Alyice Edrich

Originally, I was going to create a see-through heart, so that I could put a battery operated tealight candle in the center of the jar, but the design sort of got away with me...

Do The Work...Stay Out Of The Results

Etsy...Sales....Circles...Network....Tweet....Renew...Oh My!

I am still fairly new to this whole world of creating and selling said creations. Don't get me wrong.I am having a great time learning how to run my little Etsy shop, take photos, network, show in galleries, etc. I did feel a bit overwhelmed not too long ago, so I went to visit an artist friend of mine. The business side of this process has really been a downer and I needed David to cheer me up. He is a very…
