Not that I was ever unsure of this before, but after making these cupcakes, I know there is definitely a God. Don’t get me wrong, I knew 201% that God exists; nature is astounding, grace remains, and I have unexplainable joy. But making these little treats were just the icing on the cake. Or…the buttercream on the Bible. God planned these amazing little kitchen creations before the beginning of time. It was his will for me…to have the best cupcake on earth…in my belly.
Would a… Continue

I have an incredibly sweet friend who requested a favor of me. She had a leaf necklace that another talented friend of ours had made her for her birthday. But, within hours of putting it on, two of her very young children had managed to break it twice. Isn't that always the way? So she asked if I could make a version to replace it.…

I'm thinking of revamping the Doer of the Week questionnaire a little.
Are there any questions you guys think I should ask the honorees? What information do you find most helpful or insightful?

You'll notice that 6 new groups have been created today. Please take a look at the categories (Foodies, Mommapreneurs, Ecopreneurs, Party People, Do-Gooders, and Shop Girls) and join any that are appropriate.
Also, please feel free to suggest any other "official" groups. I am floating the idea of a Photographers and Designers group.
What do you think?

So many cool things have happened since I joined the Dreamers into Doers
community. In January I was able to participate in a huge event at MSLO to benefit the women of Safe Horizon
, a shelter for abused women, that was uplifting for us all. Plus I met, face-to-face, with amazing women entrepreneurs I had connected with on DID, as we came together for a common cause. I even got… Continue

After some more deep-diving into the groups, I realized there are a bunch of groups that only have a few members.
I'm going to throw the number 20 out there. Any group with less that 20 members will receive deletion warnings (same as the inactive groups), at which point the creators will have a few days to respond/object.
Thanks to all of you for being so cooperative.

In order to streamline this community, we're going to be doing some housekeeping of the groups. Any group that has been inactive for more than 30 days will be deleted. I will personally message each group creator before I do anything official, but that is how we'll sort things for now.
Moving forward, Alexis and I will create a few new super-groups by category. We hope that you all will join your respective… Continue

Thank you so much to Alexis and team at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia for choosing me as Doer of the Week. I am so excited, I will be smiling all week! Five years ago I was dreaming of starting my own business. When I first started Vintage Bakeshop I had no idea how many twists and turns my journey would make, but I love where my venture has taken me. I have always been a passionate baker, and it is an honor to know that my… Continue

The wheels are moving over here at Martha Stewart HQ about creating a Dreamer Into Doers event in January 2011. The event will be held in NYC and we're going to offer workshops, a chance to attend a taping of The Martha Stewart Show, a luncheon, and a do-gooder angle (helping women in a shelter, etc.). We held an event this past January
and it was a success. And more importantly, women… Continue

Working at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is an exciting experience. I've been here for 2 and 1/2 years and I can honestly say that there's never a boring day in the office. There is always something going on -- whether it's an event hosted by Martha in the offices
or relaunching a blog. And sometimes I get caught in all several projects at once and feel burnt out. And I KNOW that you know what I'm talking… Continue

Recently on the site we had a member with questionable practices. I like to believe her heart was in the right place but the execution of her ideas were not aligned with her heart. Unfortunately, I had to suspend the member from the site. I wished her well and hoped that this was a learning experience for her.
It certainly was a learning experience for me. I approve each and every member on this site -- I'm able to ward off most spammers but not suspicious people. If… Continue
