Dress Up That Thanksgiving Table...with an easy 5 minute DIY!

Sometimes it’s the simplest of ideas that make the best, like this idea I call “nature’s candle cozy”. Colorful autumn leaves wrapped around votives secured with ribbon or raffia makes the perfect accent for an autumn wedding or Thanksgiving tablescape. No need to look further than your local craft store and backyard for a few of the supplies. Pick the brightest red and gold leaves to use. Not only is this simple, it is earth friendly, too. I…

The Comfort Trunk
Hello, my name is Monica and I live in El Paso, TX a border town along the Rio Grande River. I am a stay-at-home mom and have two small children, ages 2 and 4. Before I bacame a full-time mom, I was a real estate administrative specialist and I did just about everything in the office just short of actually selling a house. I must say that while I enjoyed the process of learning (I knew nothing about real estate) and putting into practice 13 years of prior customer service experience, I…

Hi DID! It's exciting to be in this large community of dreamers/entrepreneurs. Today I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with the task of putting content on these pages, however. How do you all deal with it?
Between Facebook, Twitter, my personal blog, the forums I follow, the other blogs I follow... how do you find time in your day to keep all these balls rolling?
I know I'd love to spend more time here, telling you more about my…

My First Official Gift Basket Order!!
I am just so thrilled to say that I officially have my first gift basket order! My friend Dana Dimmick, who is in remission from cancer, requested that I design and fill 2 gift baskets for this doctor's office and the hospital. He wants to say 'thank you' to the doctors and staff who helped him through this difficult time. Thanks to them they were able to remove the cancer and give him chemotherapy. Tests came back clean last week!
I am so thankful that he has enlisted me for…

Dreaming and just doing it
You know, I've been working full time for what seems like an eternity - my whole adult life really. However, the last 4 years have opened up my eyes to see what the potential of running, organizing and (my most favorite) marketing Renaissance Faires.
Yes, my husband and I have been lucky enough to put together two renaissance festivals here in MA, and I've learned quite a bit during this time. I am nervous about tomorrow, as we need to face the City of Gloucester, MA to let…

Celebrate the Everyday
I bake with my 3 year old daughter almost everyday. We bake all of our bread, bakery items such as scones, cookies, loaves, and desserts. I also bake and make candy for my small business.
We love baking together and she has become quite knowledgeable and skilled at it. Today she asked if we could make a birthday cake with green frosting, sprinkles and candles. As she was pulling out the collection of random birthday candles from the pantry (which she had clearly spied at some…

Your Personal Best?
A little over a decade ago I was a fashion design major who modeled on the side. I knew who I was, I knew my style and I knew how to create it.
Now, I am a stay at home mom with three little ones. The two youngest are 1 and 2 years old. My oldest is almost 8. When his sister was born over a year ago, he developed so much anxiety that he literally couldn't function. And neither could I. I tell you this to illustrate that sometimes he's more work than my littler ones. Oh yeah, and I…

A Little Encouragement for the Dreamers
Firstly, I am just barely a Doer. I have been blogging and "in business" for less than a year. I feel I must disclose that. But, I wanted to just encourage the dreamers out there with something I have learned in all of this craziness. Are you ready for it? It's earth shattering, so prepare yourself. Here it is: Slow and steady really does win the race. It is as simple as that.
In the beginning I felt like I needed to rush to get everything just right, right then. It turns out…
