Dreaming a Laidback Lifestyle

I was excited to hear from Alexis and find out that I was the "Doer of the Week." It is very cool to have someone acknowledge work that you are passionate about.

I started bringing this dream to fruition about 3 years ago after doing a freelance gig that had me going from designing textiles for fashion to the home. It was crazy because I started thinking of how cool it would be to have products for your home that were cool and funky… Continue

"Oh, Give Us A Home Where The Bungalow Roam!"

Oh, Give Us A Home Where The Bungalow Roam and the skies are not cloudy all day!

Did I just sing BUNGALOW ROAM? I fear, yes. Oh go on, scoff if you will!

As I wander around this Bungalow, Quite The Stir, right here in Gettysburg, PA and perhaps strain on tip toes reaching upwards whilst lowering the folding attic stair steps or mayhaps adjusting a transom here and sliding a wooden pocket door there...I find myself actually singing… Continue

Have a "Semi-Homemade" potluck

It's great to have friends and family over. Potluck parties are a great way to save money and get together more often. Nowadays people are pressed for time, and cooking a dish can be a labor intensive project your friends might not be in the mood for.

Instead, why not just make several dishes yourself and ask your friends to "fill-in" the blanks with pre-made items they can pick up from the supermarket! This makes it easy for them to contribute and you will still be able to showcase… Continue

Cupcakes, Couture and Champagne

When Bella Bridesmaid opened a new store in Seattle; they really knew how to celebrate. On December 3rd, the owners Nancy and Meredith held an Open House event which included hors d' oeuvres, champagne, cupcakes and couture (both the dress and cupcake kind). The cupcakes were provided by Yellow Leaf Cupcakes and the wrappers by your very own Bella Cupcake Couture. Don't they look brilliant?!

With nearly 40 Bella Bridesmaid boutiques across the… Continue

An Important Message Regarding the Dreamers Trip to NYC

Dear Dreamers,

So this is it! A few months ago, a group was created in hopes that we can meet each other and now, a trip to New York City in the works! We are all very excited about this trip including people at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. It's amazing that members on this site committed to make a trip to NYC to meet each other, share their common desire to "Do," and help others.

We are still figuring out logistics on the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO) end… Continue

The Christmas Tree

Have you ever taken the time to look at your Christmas tree? You'd be amazed at the amount of history you would find if you would take the time, sit and listen to the story your Christmas tree has to tell. Last week, a family friend, dropped by and immediately begin to compliment me on how beautiful our Christmas tree was. In my eyes our tree was pretty but there was much more room for improvement. My goals were to buy plusher garland and bigger ornaments with more bedazzle and shine. It wasn't… Continue

ANOTHER GREAT USE FOR BAMBOO

I have been thinning out my bamboo forest and have a great idea for bamboo centerpieces, the bamboo is cut in 12-14" lengths, and filled with dried lavender and miniature paperflowers. The bamboo stalk is set in air dry clay into those glass candle lids that you never know what to do with and then fresh moss is pinned over the moss. You can even use fresh flowers and fill the bamboo with water, they are hollow inside and do not leak.…

A Ho Ho Christmas....

My grandson is calling everything a Ho Ho Christmas these days, from play dough trees to lights around the windows. He is our miracle child as he has transformed his mom and dad from a "we're too cool and trendy to believe in all the Christ stuff to, well maybe we should get in the spirit of things as well. Thank God for little… Continue

Eat More, Burn Better

The diet advice we'd all love to hear is "Eat more and lose more weight!" But what really works is "Eat more often, and you'll lose more weight." Small, but frequent, meals help keep your metabolism in high gear, and that… Continue
