GRAPE JELLY MAKING TODAY

What I love best about making grape jelly is the wonderful aroma that they make when they are mashed and cooking. It fills up the whole kitchen with a delightful late summer feeling.See More

THE GRAPES ARE READY!

Those delicious blue Concord grapes are ready to be picked, they are two weeks early, probably because of the drought that we have had. They are smaller than usual, but very sweet, perfect for jelly-making. The white Concords fared better, they are larger and also quite sweet. But the Baco Noir grapes are the rage among the feathered flock. This particular grape is thinner skinned and quite juicy, quite drought resistant according to the Golden Comets.See More

"Yes, the ammonia is amazing, I stepped on a hornet once and it cured it right away. I will keep it in mind for the jelly fish stings in August, although it does seem like we are in the deep summer already!"

"Peggy, I do remember that clear ammonia (not sudsy) works best on hornet stings, this was a great anecdote from our family physician back in Englewood, NJ. The poison ivy is cropping up around here, too, I put a liberal amount of clear caladryl on…"

Cheryl, we were preparing to call it a night and noticed today's your birthday. Well, since none of us could carry tunes even if they were in a bucket, would you settle for a warm wish and a (virtual) hug?

Cheryl,
When my Mom-in-Law passed Oct '08, I started turning her writings and stories into 150 pg book. Your short story based on a picture is an AWESOME approach to building a story book of memories to pass along to your family.. Take a picture that inspires you write a blurb or short story about the picture as it relates to your memories. Do one a week. Organize short stories into BIG BOOK of memories. Can I share your story and sundial pic with others to inspire them to build their own BIG BOOK of Memories?
