Good news about the Grandson ... the report must have been supplied by a "wise owl" ;) !

Cheryl? Things weren't like this in the 1940s dahlink! A manual clickety clack to put out the posts to the rags might take one all day, but I've heard (from excellent sources) that the memory only died when the report lost the impetus! Hubba, Hubba!

ALL PURPOSE DAY

Spent this day rooting ivy cuttings and working on fixing my computer. Liz and I spent a relaxing sushi lunch and talked about our Thanksgiving preparations, I cut more fresh sage and hung it with the rest of the herbs, ready for that turkey, it's a big frozen one so I have to remember to take it out Sunday to thaw in the refrigerator.

COMPUTER MELTDOWN

I think I am finally out of the woods. My computer started acting up last night and I did the usual thing, unplugging everything and then restarting it , but I could not get the screen to come up. I was a nervous wreck, I knew that everyone says that the Apple is immune to viruses, but that is not true. My grandson woke up this morning and put a virus protector on it and said, "Nan, if it doesn't work, can I have your computer?" These kids are so computer saavy at such an early age, it is amazin… Continue

VISIT TO PRINCETON

We were very encouraged at my grandson Chris's ear evaluation at Childrens' Hospital today. He can even start swimming again so we celebrated with tuna fish sandwiches at the Princeton snack bar and a visit to the Cotsen's Childrens' Library. One of my favorite photo finds of the day was this little owl stonecarving which sits over the large wooden doors, every time I visit this beautiful campus, I discover something surprising and new!

Holly Trees and Northern Flickers

Allaire State Park in NJ not only has a healthy, beautiful collection of beech trees, but they also have native holly trees many of them growing near the old tow path around the nature center. It was a great day for Fred and I to hike and have a discussion of upcoming events, such as my trip to New Orleans to see our daughters, and his research contribution to the Walt Whitman House. I booked my flight today to the Crescent City and made arrangements to bring Marie's cat, Smokey back with us. I d… Continue

STARTING OUT

My youngest daughter, Marie is spending the last semester of her senior year in Germany. I could not fully understand this, leaving the college, apartment and adopted city of New Orleans to embark on an unknown, but my husband said, let her go. Marie has done extremely well in college, plus worked throughout the year and summers to support herself.
Then I thought back to when I was 21 and all the aspirations and excitement about starting out on your own, and I can understand the importance of gr… Continue

Cheryl,
When my Mom-in-Law passed Oct '08, I started turning her writings and stories into 150 pg book. Your short story based on a picture is an AWESOME approach to building a story book of memories to pass along to your family.. Take a picture that inspires you write a blurb or short story about the picture as it relates to your memories. Do one a week. Organize short stories into BIG BOOK of memories. Can I share your story and sundial pic with others to inspire them to build their own BIG BOOK of Memories?
