Hi, I'm Carrie!  I’m a cake designer, former specialty cake shop owner and former IT professional… now turned full-time blogger.  Most importantly, I have a passion for cake and believe that cake is the real star of any event!

Most of you probably realize that I’m a little obsessed with cake!  What you may not know is that my path to being a full-time cake blogger has been a winding road!  My passion for cake design actually began during my online hunt for the perfect cake for my own wedding.  That was a challenging hunt 10 years ago, back before the days of inspirational wedding blogs!  Let’s fast forward a bit shall we…. I left my career in corporate IT, learned everything I could about cake and opened a specialty cake shop.  Ah, the sweet life!  Until my family relocated for my husband’s career and I had to close my shop.  After our move, I continued to share my love of cake design and parties via my blog,  Half Baked.  While closing my shop was kind of a hard thing for me…  I’m loving the blog life now and wouldn’t trade it for anything.  I still get my fill of cake and get to be a full time mommy to my 13 month old daughter.  It’s actually much easier on the waistline too!!  And I like to think there are brides, moms and cake lovers everywhere now finding their perfect cake on my site.     

Half Baked is an inspirational site dedicated to cake and all things sweet.  Half Baked showcases hot new cake designs, the stunning events where they’re enjoyed and the talented artists behind the cakes.  It is my privilege to introduce our readers to new cake trends and talented cake artists across the country.

I've had the honor of my own cake designs being published in BRIDES Magazine (Nov 2011 Issue & America's Most Beautiful Cakes 2011), Bride and Bloom Magazine (here & here) and the Beverly Hills Report Magazine.  My work has also been featured on popular websites such as Style Me Pretty, Hostess With the Mostess, Daily Candy and numerous blogs.

I am a full time mother to my 13 month old daughter, Sadie, and am happily married to my best friend and husband of 10 years.  I write Half Baked early in the morning, late at night and during nap time!  My favorite cake flavor is good old classic vanilla.
