@Sandra I think cakewalk had some great advice about assigning the godmother particular tasks that fit in with your vision.  That way she gets to help but you still have control.  Good luck!

@Sandra are there any elements of the party that you can delegate to godmother that still leaves you creative freedom? Maybe ordering the food, or supplying the drinks. I think talking to your niece is a great idea. be professional and explain your vision to her just like you would a client, and how you would like godmother to help. Good luck and remember at the end of the party, it's all about the birthday girl and she will love everything you do!

Hi Ladies, I need your input on a possible party styling challenge. We are in the planning stage for a party for my great  niece’s daughters. It’s a Rockstar party scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. The birthday girls godmother is doing the invitations and is donating a disco ball and colored lights for the party which is very generous. She (godmother) has also asked my niece what else can she do as far as planning, organizing etc. I think I’m having some control issues here. I don’t like other people dabbling in something that I/we are supposed to be in charge of. I’ve had experienced some tacky things being added and I don’t want my name associated with it. Should I address this with my niece or just let it go?

@amy I LOVE your Cub Scout party and the s'mores cupcakes by the fire were the perfect choice for dessert! Makes me want to be a Cub Scout ;)
