Mrs. Gaffney is the author of seven books combining the worlds of dogs and knitting published by Kanine Knits. The Crafty Dog Knits series allows knitters to create like-like pictures of their dogs knit into sweaters and accessories. She has also developed a collection of more than 100 patterns of different breeds which has led admirers such as best-selling author Debbie Macomber to say, “Peggy Gaffney has introduced a new idea into the knitting realm...you’re in for a real treat. Really, what could be better? Yarn, a pair of knitting needles, a good pattern, and a faithful companion by your side.” Carol

Mrs. Gaffney spoke recently at the Sisterhood of Dreamers event in New York City sponsored by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia which celebrated women entrepreneurs. The event was held to raise awareness of women-helping-women to grow their own businesses as part of the more than 4,000 member

Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers” social network. A luncheon was held to raise awareness of the struggles of women in battered women’s shelters. Members of the Sisterhood of Dreamers worked with the Manhattan shelter Safe Horizons and the women residents were presented gifts from each of the entrepreneurs involved. Mrs. Gaffney’s Kanine Knits donated more than 50 knitted scarves. The Farmington River Literary Arts Center’s “Celebrating Connecticut Authors” event is being held each Sunday in March. On March 21, Peggy Gaffney will be speaking and signing books along with two other authors, memoirist Fay Taylor and children’s author Mollie Ostroski,
